Competency to Stand Trial

Drs. Keaveney and Guay evaluate defendants to determine their capacity to understand their charges, court personnel, courtroom procedures, and potential legal outcomes, as well as their ability to consult with counsel. Opinions regarding restoration of competency are also provided.

What to Expect

The evaluation may be conducted in person or virtually as requested by the referral source. The evaluation typically includes a review of legal and medical records, a clinical interview, a mental status evaluation, gathering collateral information, and when appropriate, psychological testing.
